Job Description:

TB HIV Care (THC), in existence since 1929, is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation. We provide health care services throughout South Africa to both the general population and communities at increased risk for HIV and TB, including adolescent girls and young women, sex workers and people who use drugs. THC provides a stimulating work environment and the opportunity to work with leaders in the field of HIV and TB prevention and care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Uses the attendance register for recording the number of males and females present during awareness sessions
  • Conducts outreach activities and provides male and female condom demonstrations
  • Identifies SW hotspots for mobilisation
  • Assists team in follow-up of referrals of all new cases – HIV, TB, STIs and other health issues
  • Mobilises sex workers to access appropriate mobile health services
  • Provides accurate and current health information to sex workers using a variety of delivery Strategies
  • Educates sex workers on risk reduction and prevention interventions and records accordingly
  • Distributes male and female condoms and lube and records accordingly

Job Requirements:

  • Clear criminal record
  • Ability to communicate in English and IsiZulu languages
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years’ work experience in the sex industry or experience as a peer educator
  • Accredited or recognised counselling certificate preferred
  • Grade 12 / matric
