Job Description:

The Brand Manager is the custodian of creative above the line (ATL) and below the line (BTL) brand communications. This role manages the holistic execution of the strategic brand marketing plans for the SPARK Schools network in order to attract potential customers and retain existing ones. This role ensures the timely production of quality marketing material that drives brand awareness, supports the sales team in terms of lead generation and assists in customer retention through various marketing initiatives. The Brand Manager oversees the brand team within the marketing business unit and is integral to the SPARK Schools mission to create systemic change in South Africa by providing affordable globally competitive education to previously underserved markets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute ATL and BTL marketing campaigns in collaboration with creative agencies, ensuring quality control and brand alignment.
  • Lead the brand team in its execution of the SPARK Schools marketing plans in line with the marketing strategy.
  • Manage production of all marketing collateral including signage, printed material and branded corporate merchandise.
  • Meet lead targets, to support enrolment of scholars, through various marketing and branding activities.
  • Analyse return on investment (ROI) across BTL and ATL marketing channels and report on results and recommendations for increased efficiency.
  • Manage agency briefings, productivity, work quality and final outputs to ensure strategic alignment with business goals.
  • Conduct quarterly research on competitors and industry trends and present to various stakeholders as required.
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to key stakeholders on key brand metrics
  • Ensure all marketing collateral has a consistent look, feel and tone according to brand guidelines.
  • Identify new opportunities to drive brand building and increase lead generation
  • Manage the creative execution of SPARK’s visual communication.
  • Ensure that the products and services offered by SPARK Schools are communicated clearly and consistently to the target market.
  • Meet Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets through various marketing and branding strategies.
  • Manage the planning and execution of open days, activations and events across the SPARK network.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Human Capital team to produce internal campaigns and build the employer brand.
  • Report on lead generation activities to various levels of the organisation in collaboration with the sales and enrolment function.
  • Building strong and collaborative cross-functional relationships with other business units, including schools to achieve brand objectives.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience managing production projects essential (print, digital, TV, radio etc.)
  • Experience managing advertising and media agencies (essential)
  • Experience overseeing market research essential
  • A degree or diploma in marketing, advertising, communications or a related field – post-graduate qualification advantageous
  • 4-7 years of experience in marketing or a closely related field
