Professional Teacher’s Qualification in Foundation Phase Education OR ECDE – with Afrikaans as LoLT; and an Honours degree in ECDE OR Afrikaans for Education .
Two (2) years experience in ECDE practice – teaching Afrikaans Home Language in an ECDE school environment – or equivalent.
Two (2) years experience in higher education lecturing on a full-or part-time basis.
Knowledge, skills, and expertise in teaching Afrikaans in the Foundation Phase.
Knowledge, skills, and expertise in teaching in different delivery modes to ensure quality teaching, learning practices, and experiences.
Knowledge and skills in training pre-service teachers to teach Afrikaans as a Home and First Additional Language in multilingual environments.
Knowledge and skills on how to integrate Afrikaans Home Language, Mathematics, and Life Skills with the intention of developing learners’ holistic language proficiencies.
Knowledge and skills on how to adjust pedagogy to teach Afrikaans at Home Language and First Additional Language levels.
Knowledge, skills, and expertise in developing and designing assessment practices that ensure quality training of pre-service Foundation Phase teachers.
Computer proficiency – command of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with a tertiary LMS (preferably eFundi) and online teaching platforms.
Language proficiency to function in a multilingual environment.
