Job Description:

Management, supervision and coordination of incubator activities, including communication of all relevant quality and technical matters

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce accurate, reliable, and timely data reports
  • Develops service packages for funders
  • Put together proposals emanating from the program to acquire more networks, grow the stability of the program and access further resources
  • Work on commissioned projects by government or industry to ensure they are executed by coordinating the necessary innovation stakeholders ensuring they are responding timeously
  • Negotiate with Suppliers on commodities to be hived out into manufacturing incubator
  • Develop and execute programs to support manufacturing incubates to deliver on just in time requirements
  • Compile reports for funders on active programs run and strategy implementation progress
  • Support to ensure that all players of the multiple helix that is, Government, Industry and community come together timeously to find and work on areas of collaboration to ensure innovation is closely aligned to enhance industrialization in the IDZ and beyond into the Eastern Cape (EC) region  Drive and Coordinate the Regional Innovation Platforms
  • Compile project proposals to access funding for projects with Academia that will benefit the industries in our zone and beyond into the EC
  • Evaluate and seek potential funding sources through program revenue, grants, donors etc.
  • Drive and facilitate engagements with manufacturers and their processing lines to ascertain requirements for localization
  • Develop and ensure approval of the Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)/ contracts or Agreements in line with agreed commodities or processes to be hived into the incubator
  • Participate on SHEQ Audit
  • Manage the day- to- day interaction with the incubator operators and Innovates and Incubates
  • Coordinating the sector specific innovation engagements to ensure that catalytic projects in the various sectors emerge, for an example, the
  • agreements with MBSA and tier suppliers for the manufacturing incubator
  • Identify business opportunities and assess candidate companies based on business incubators’ potential impact, the entrepreneur’s willingness to work with ELIDZ, impact on the local and national economy
  • Action and close the identified non-conformances
  • Facilitate high quality advertising materials and marketing campaigns
  • Ensure development of all required compliance committees for the advancement of the manufacturing enterprises
  • Develop an Innovation Strategy and Ensure implementation of the approved strategy
  • Ensure SHEQ compliance
  • Provide technical, advisory and business support services to selected incubators
  • Develop an Incubation Strategy and Ensure implementation of the approved strategy
  • Compile and ensure execution of stakeholder management plans and proposals
  • Identify frameworks for identification of prospective manufacturing incubates
  • Manage all projects documentation requirements
  • Present to the stakeholders about the services and entrepreneurial programs of ELIDZ
  • Drive and facilitate engagements with identified stakeholders in line with the mapped stakeholder matrix
  • Create access to a variety of business and professional services which include, but are not limited to, business plans, marketing strategies, entrepreneurship, transition plans to ensure the business incubators long-term sustainability, and day-to-day incubator operations
  • Compile technical report writing for stakeholders and marketing, representing the incubator in industry
  • Entrepreneurship and Stakeholder Management

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience building and maintaining working relationships with start-ups/ entrepreneur/ innovators/ incubation/ innovation stakeholders/ universities/ research institutions/ industrial experts and associations
  • Computer literacy (MS Office: PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Experience working with donor agencies
  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical / Mechatronics/ Industrial/ ICT
  • Drivers License EB Code.
  • Experience in a science, technology and product development innovation with exposure to commercialization processes in practice
  • Demonstrable experience working at with business incubator programs • Knowledge of the manufacturing landscape and requirements
  • Experience in incubator or enterprise development space
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment with specific reference to Mechanical/ Electrical/ ICT/ Mechatronics functions
  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and public sector knowledge and understanding on a practical level
  • Knowledge and understanding of Legislation pertaining to ELIDZ
