Job Description:

Effectively plan and schedule preventive, predictive and corrective work for the Maintenance department for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of all production and facilities equipment so as to ensure attainment of all key objectives including safety, quality, security, productivity and cost control while maintaining a high level of organization, accuracy and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to manage entire work order and PM process (work order generation, tracking, reporting and completion), determine job content, arrange by priority, follow-through on existing work orders; review all submitted work orders for accuracy; request any needed changes.
  • Prepare parts kits for upcoming jobs.
  • Develop a work plan that entails the sequence of activities, staffing needs, best methods and procedures to accomplish the job, considering job duration, location, travel distance and the possibility of combining jobs in the same area.
  • Ability to work on off times outside of normal shift hours to resolve problems or concerns related to production and project activities.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time in temperature extremes on a daily basis.
  • Provide input for yearly renewal of training skills for self and others.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Perform purchasing function as needed.
  • Understand theory and operation of the plant from start to finish.
  • Direct outside contractors on the installation of jobs and projects.
  • Support safety and environmental auditing process/action plan by independently scheduling and conducting PM and work order audits; maintain SAP system.
  • Define internal/external resource needs for work scheduling and project planning; create and manage requisitions for outside repairs (cost estimating through completion); help manage cost and look for ways to improve, using internal resources.
  • Any other duties as assigned to ensure the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of products, processes, and work environment.
  • Plan and order parts and materials, including special equipment and tools.
  • Move and lift material weighing 50 pounds to distances of 10 feet or more.
  • Possess basic electrical knowledge.
  • Ensure that requested work orders are needed and properly communicate when they are not.
  • Develop measurements for tracking the success and timeliness of maintenance activities such as work order completion rates.
  • Perform hazard assessment of jobs and identify permits required (e.g., hot work, confined space).

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years mechanical/electrical experience
  • Maintenance and/or production experience required
  • 2 years’ experience with maintenance planning required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong electrical and mechanical background required
  • Computer experience preferred (Excel, Word, E-mail, PLC, CMMS)
  • Machine Shop skills preferred
  • Ability to successfully pass the Ramsey Maintenance II Test
